After 7 years at 6647 W. Mill Road, our lease was scheduled to expire at the end of October, 2012. While it came faster than we thought, we had been preparing for this day. Over the course of the last year, we had been meeting regularly and discussing ways to reduce expenses while expanding our programs and formulating a new vision for TMOC. Entering into prayer, we faithfully waited and listened for God’s voice and lead. We didn’t anticipate how quickly He would respond and the sequence of events that would unfold.
Having notified the property manager well in advance that we would be moving, they offered us the opportunity to forego our final 2 months of payments if we could be out by the end of August. An adjacent tenant wanted our space as soon as possible. Saving thousands of dollars was something we couldn’t pass up. So, with little time to prepare, we quickly moved our belongings into offsite storage. During this time, our new vision for TMOC became clearer. With other ministries in need of our services, rather than having their clients travel to our location, we asked the question; “Why don’t we take our services to them”? After receiving positive feedback from discussions with executive directors from other Christ-centered ministries, we knew we were onto something
So here we are – ready to launch our first Phoenix Life Skills program as a “virtual” ministry. With the holidays nearly upon us, the first class is scheduled to be held in January 2013.
We’re excited about this new format, the doors that will be opened, the increased number of people we will impact, and the relationships that will be formed.
We hope you see our vision too and the potential it has to address the needs of the City. Will you join us? Your prayers, support – both in time and financial resources – are needed more than ever to complete this vision of the new The Milwaukee Outreach Center and to keep us a valuable resource for the people of this great community.
Finally, due to these recent activities and the lack of a kitchen coordinator, we will not be holding our annual Home for Thanksgiving event this year. The Lord willing… we will in 2013.
For His Glory and Honor,
TMOC Board of Directors
